Martha A. Gephart

Martha A. Gephart, 84, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Heritage House of Shelbyville. She was born August 3, 1932, in Shelby County, the daughter of Charles M. and Nettie E. (Sipple) Shoaf. Martha married James Gephart on June 2, 1951, and he preceded her in death on June 12, 2016. Martha is survived by her daughter, Peggy J. Hodson of Shelbyville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rebecca L. Tracy; son, James R. “Jimmy” Gephart; and sisters, Freda Morrison and LouElla Hatton Douglas. Martha graduated from Flat Rock High School in 1950. She formerly worked at Ready Mix and a bank for a few years, retiring in 1993. Private family services will be observed. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
