Martha "Jean" Eckstein

Martha “Jean” Eckstein, 88, of Lafayette, formerly of Fairland, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Rosewalk Village in Lafayette. She was born November 25, 1930, in Fairland, the daughter of Julius Raymond and Martha (Hill) Neumann. On June 26, 1949, she married Jack L. Eckstein, and he preceded her in death on July 28, 1995. Jean is survived by her daughters, Tamera Eckstein and Tara Lee Krispin and fiancee’, Richard Heide, both of Lafayette; sister, Betty McCain of Fairland; granddaughter, Ashley Sisson and husband, Josh; great-grandson, Xander Sisson; niece, Tracy McCain of Fairland; and nephew, Mitch McCain of Fairland. In addition to Jack, Jean was preceded in death by her parents. She graduated from Moral Township High School in 1948. Jean was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. She began working at General Electric/Wellman in 1955, and retired in 1994, with 39 years of service. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 1560 N. Michigan Road, in Shelbyville. Funeral services 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
