Martha Sue “Cookie” Hill, 74, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, October 21, 2019 at her home.
She was born December 29, 1944, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the daughter of Herschel and Mattie (Anderson) Montgomery. On September 3, 1960, she married her husband of 59 years, Henry Hill, and he survives.
In addition to Henry, Cookie is survived by her daughters, Susan Smith and husband, Donny, of Blue Ridge, Brenda Strong and husband, Ray, of Fairland, Pam Skomp and husband, Major Robert, of Pittsboro, and Jeannie Bello and husband, Lekan, of Indianapolis, son, Robert Hill and wife, Patricia, of Fairland; brother, Howard Montgomery of Greenwood; 16 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harry Montgomery, Vivian Montgomery and Paul Montgomery; and sisters, Jonell Montgomery, Sadie Aurther and Betty Ann Patterson.
Cookie was a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church, where she participated in the ladies group.
She was a homemaker and worked at the Bavarian House, Fiddler’s Three and Waffle House, retiring in 2006.
Cookie was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed fishing, camping and dancing.
Cookie also leaves behind her dog, Little Dutchess.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
