Marty Burr Mart, 84, of Morristown, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Indiana University Methodist Hospice in Indianapolis surrounded by family.
He was born on April 4, 1942, in Peru, the son of Clyde “Marty” and Helen (Conwell) Mart. On November 17, 1963, he married his wife of 62 years, Clarissa M. Himelick, and she survives.
In addition to Clarissa, Marty is survived by his daughters, Katherine Mart and husband, John Bradshaw of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Andrea K. Warfield and husband, Doug, of Gwynneville; grandchildren, Nicholas Warfield, Nathaniel Warfield, Allison Warfield and DeeDee Meunier and husband, Chris; great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Louise Meunier; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved cats, Einstein, Billy and Freddy.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Yvonne Carol Mart and Kristina Raye Mart; and brother, John “Jack” Moore.
In 1960, Marty graduated from Converse High School. He obtained an associate’s degree from International Business College in Fort Wayne.
He worked as a clerk for the Railroad for 39 years, retiring in 2002, from CSX.
Marty was a former member of the Morristown Lions Club.
He loved to read, listen to 1940’s music, watch racing and research genealogy. Marty was a Chicago Bears fan.
Visitation will be from 4 to 5 pm, Friday, April 24, 2026, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 124 E. North St., in Morristown.
Funeral services will follow at 5 pm, at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Horner officiating.
Graveside services will be at 1 pm, Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Converse Cemetery in Converse, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Judith Erlewein Memorial Scholarship/Morristown Lions Club, in care of the Blue River Community Foundation, 54 W. Broadway, Suite 1, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
