Mary Louise (Mary Lou) Alfimow, 76, of Indianapolis, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Community South Hospital in Indianapolis, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 24, 1950, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Stanley and Pearl (Parsons) Pikulinski. On July 14, 1983, she married Valerik Alfimow, and he preceded her in death on January 20, 2014.
Mary is survived by her children, Sara Moseley and husband, Dean, of Camby, Rachel Spurlin and husband, Matthew, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Nikolai Alfimow and Walter Alfimow, both of Indianapolis; sister, Linda Pravel of Rose City, Michigan, grandchildren, Dylan, Ian, Gannon, Emalee, Ethan, Luke, Lydia, Niko, Mikhail and Valerik “Aiden”; nieces, Carol and Gina; and nephew, Todd.
In addition to Valerik, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Anne Shaw.
Mary retired with nearly 30 years of service, as a patients advocate, at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.
She enjoyed playing BINGO, cooking, baking, gardening, boating, camping and fishing. Mary also enjoyed sewing, often making her children’s costumes for Halloween. She was always there to cheer on her children, whether attending sporting events or dance recitals. She loved her grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with them. Mary’s family was her first priority.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm, Friday, July 10, 2026, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral service will follow at 7 pm on Friday.
Private inurnment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
