Mary Carolyn Trimble, 96, of Fairland, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville.
She was born September 15, 1929, in Saint Paul, the daughter of John and Helen (Mann) Hartman. On April 19, 1947, she married Billy G. Trimble, and he preceded her in death on January 26, 1996.
Mary is survived by her sons, Jerry Trimble and wife, Michaelynn, and Jim Trimble and wife, Rhonda, both of Fairland; grandsons, Todd Trimble and wife, Tricia, Craig Trimble and wife, Mandy, and Jeremy Trimble; five great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to Bill, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; brother, George Hartman; sister, Anna Marie Townsend; and grandson, Jason Trimble.
She was a 1947 graduate of Morristown High School.
Mary was a member of Boggstown Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed participating in church activities.
She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Pioneers Social Club, V.F.W., St. Joe Social Club and Women of the Moose.
Mary loved to travel and participated on several cruises, including Alaska, and mystery trips. She especially enjoyed winters in Bonita Beach, Florida. She enjoyed many social activities such as monthly Rummikub and quarterly trips to Beef and Boards. She was modest, yet competitive. She took pride in completing crossword puzzles and being the first to get the daily word in Wordle.
She was small in stature, but had a big heart, a sharp wit, and great sense of humor. One of her biggest passions was IU Basketball, only surpassed by her support of her grandsons’ school programs such as music, band, and ballgames.
Another great joy to Mary and everyone around her was her love of camping. She was an integral part of many fond campfire memories. She perfected the art of Campfire cooking, creating many meals on a giant 24” iron skillet.
Graveside services will be held 11 am, Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Forest Hill Cemetery, with Roger McDaniel officiating.
