Michael L. "Brownie" Brown

Michael L. “Brownie” Brown, 64, of Edinburgh, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Franciscan Health Indianapolis.

He was born on March 31, 1962, in Franklin, the son of Stephen and Sharon K. (Hiatt) Brown.

Brownie is survived by his brother, Scott Brown and wife, Michele, of Columbus; sister, Debbie Sipes and husband, Mark, of Scipio; adopted parents, Karl and Alice Montgomery of Shelbyville; adopted daughter, Jessica Dunn of Edinburgh; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.

In 1980, he graduated from Southwestern High School.

Brownie attended Geneva United Methodist Church.

He was formerly a mechanic having worked with Ronnie Tennell and Dave Alford. Brownie had also worked for Job Corps, Real World Testing, Quickway and Amos Hill. He helped Karl Montogmery and Mike Steinbargar on their farms.

He enjoyed going fishing, working on cars and cooking.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 10 am, Monday, May 18, 2026, at the funeral home, with Rev. Mark Dodd officiating.

Interment will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
