Michael J. “Stretch” Beyer, 64, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, December 7, 2020, at his home.
He was born April 6, 1956, in Shelbyville, the son of John J. Beyer Jr. and Betty E. (Cunningham) Beyer.
Mike is survived by his brothers, Stephan Beyer and wife, Shirley, of Prescott, Thomas Beyer and wife, Mary, of Geneva, Timothy Beyer of Greensburg; sister, Rose Mary Sheedy of Tipton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul David Beyer; sister, Alice Bottorff; and nephews, John and Lance.
Mike was a 1974 Waldron High School graduate, where he was active in FFA.
He was a member of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Mike was also a member of Shelbyville Knights of Columbus Council No. 822, where he was Past Grand Knight.
Mike was a lifelong farmer and he began farming with his father. He was formerly employed at Runnebohm Construction for 10 years, he also poured cement for B&W Concrete.
He enjoyed cooking at the Knights of Columbus.
Mike also leaves behind his dog, Iris.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, with the rosary recited at 11:30 a.m.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Father Mike Keucher officiating.
Interment will be at Saint Vincent Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, CDC guidelines requiring a mask and social distancing will be observed. There will be a limit of 50 people allowed inside the funeral home at a time.
