Michael Joseph Schreiner

Michael Joseph Schreiner, 74, of Shelbyville passed away Monday, September 28, 2020, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus, after a hard fought battle with leukemia. He was born March 7, 1946 in Brookline, Massachusetts, the son of Robert J. and Virginia (Conners) Schreiner. On August 19, 1989, he married his beloved wife of 31 years, Brenda Taylor, and she survives. In addition to Brenda, Michael is survived by his step-mother, Norma Schreiner of Shelbyville; son, Christopher Schreiner and wife, Melissa, of Louisville, Kentucky; daughter, Heather Bounds and husband, Daniel of Queen Creek, Arizona; sister, Diane Seitz and husband, Larry, of Greene County; and grandchildren, Andrew Schreiner, Jacob Wiseman, Jessie Wiseman and Logan Bounds; sisters-in-law, Norma Snyder and husband, Myron, and Barbara Williams and husband, Ronald; nephews, Marc Seitz, Kenny Williams and wife, Sharon, Mike Williams and wife, Lisa, Kevin Williams and Ronnie Williams; nieces, Tammy Sturgeon, Karen Henderson, Sharon Sutton and Debbie Rhodes and husband, Kent; great-nephews, Kyle Henderson, Stevie Monroe, Jeremy Rhodes, Wesley Williams, Gavin, Cade and Cooper; great-nieces, Gena Denk and husband, Matt, Brittany Williams, Mindy Jo Williams, Nicki Williams and Cassie Williams; great-great-nephews, Jace Wayne and Kohen; great-great-niece, Ella Rae. Also surviving Michael, whom he and Brenda helped raise and guide through life are Katy Lower and husband, Dustin, of Fishers, Johnna Preidt and husband, Tony Hansen, of Minnesota, Bryce Parsley and Adelyn Parsley, both of Shelbyville. Michael was preceded in death by his father; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ruth and Acie Taylor; brother-in-law, Hurley Taylor; nephews, Gary Henderson and Jason Snyder. He graduated in 1964 from Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, and attended college for three years. Michael was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1966 to 1970 in northeast Africa during the Vietnam Era. Michael formerly worked at Carter Lumber for seven years, KBI for 15 years, and in 2010 began as the property manager at Green Acre Apartments, a division of Landco Inc. in Franklin. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2020, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, with the Rosary recited at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St. in Shelbyville, with Father Mike Keucher officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to Freeman Family Funeral Homes, 819 S.
