Mignon Edwards Dismore, 98, of Shelbyville passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Clearvista Lake Health Campus in Indianapolis.
She was born April 11, 1920, in Rushville, the daughter of Samuel and Alta (Dungan) Edwards. On May 28, 1955, she married Lawrence W. Dismore, and he preceded her in death on October 1, 2000.
Mignon is survived by her son, Charles E. Sharp and wife, Debbie, of Fishers; granddaughters, Leslie and Paige; and great-grandsons, Tyler and Avery.
In addition to Lawrence, Mignon was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Dennis Edwards and Robert Edwards.
Mignon was a resident of Shelbyville since 1925. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1938 and Butler University.
She was a 62-year member of the First Baptist Church, where she was formerly a Sunday school teacher and member of Loyal Leaders’ Class.
Mignon retired as an elementary school teacher at Hendricks Elementary School, with 23 years of service.
She was also a member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority (Honorary Retired), Friendly Fennettes Extension Club, Shelby County Historical Society, Indiana Retired Teachers’ Association, Shelby County Retired Teachers Association and Retired Teachers of Hendricks Elementary School.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at noon Thursday at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery in Arlington.
