Nancy (Green) McDuffee, 74, of Shelbyville passed away Thursday, December 12, 2019 at her home.
She was born May 11, 1945, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Emory and Jane (Cochran) Schlake. She was raised by her mother Jane and adoptive father, Lowell “Gene” Green. On April 27, 1991, she married David A. McDuffee and he passed away May 3, 2015.
Nancy lived most of her life in Shelby County and graduated from Triton Central High School in 1963. She later earned her medical technologist certification and worked for Major Hospital, Community East Hospital and Mid-America Laboratory, retiring after 30 years.
She loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren’s activities. She enjoyed knitting Christmas stockings for the entire family and working crossword puzzles.
Nancy is survived by her daughters, Leslie Gambill and husband, Devon, of Dayton, Ohio, Kim Zorman and husband, David, of Elnora, Amy Glackman of Shelbyville; son, Todd Brandman and wife, Melody, of Shelbyville; David’s children, Melodie Asdell of Indianapolis, Rick McDuffee and wife, Christina, of Ventura, California, and Rachel Erdel and husband, Brad, of Okinawa, Japan; sister, Cindy (Green) Anderson; brothers, Emory V. Schlake Jr., Darryl W. Schlake and Brian Schlake; grandchildren, Alex Gambill, Alison Gambill, Jessica Miller-Bock, Christopher Stranger, Amanda Stranger, Delaney Zorman, Zane Zorman, Steven Glackman, Sarah Glackman, Ryan Brandman, Jordan Brandman and Chloe Erdel; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and the McDuffee family who shared their love and lives with her through the years.
In addition to David, Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Doug Green.
Nancy was a member of Hope’s Point Baptist Church. She helped in “Kids Town” and enjoyed Bible studies and Women’s retreats.
Her favorite Bible verse: For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith; and this not from yourselves it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2:8
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2019 at the funeral home, with Rev. Ed Mohr officiating.
Interment will be at Boggstown Cemetery in Shelby County.
