Norma Marie Richardson

Norma Marie Richardson, 83, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Heritage House of Shelbyville. She was born October 31, 1934, in Spencer, the daughter of Emil and Lucille Freeman. On August 18, 1951, she married Philip Richardson, and he preceded her in death on June 20, 2003. Norma is survived by her daughter, Diana Smith and husband, Jeffrey, of Shelbyville; sisters, Violet Stancomb and husband, Kenny, of Morristown, and Nancy Duncan and husband, Larry, of Kokomo; grandsons, Jason Smith and wife, Brandi, and Justin Smith and wife, Sarah; and great-grandchildren, Braydon Smith, Brooklyn Smith, Conner Hasecuster, Nolan Hasecuster and Harlan Smith. She was also preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Brenda Marie Richardson; and brother, James Freeman. Norma graduated from Spencer High School in 1951. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where she was a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir. Norma was formerly a youth leader at the Baptist Church in Yokohama, Japan. Norma was a loving and devoted homemaker and Navy wife. She loved to cook for her family and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at First Church of the Nazarene, 2315 S. Riley Highway in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at noon, with Rev. Dr. Steve Bohall officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
