Norma Rose Browning, 90, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville.
She was born May 4, 1931, in Shelbyville, the daughter of John J. Sr. and Bertha (Runnebohm) Beyer. On August 4, 1951, she married her husband of 70 years, Warren E. Browning, and he survives.
In addition to Warren, Norma is survived by her sons, Ronald D. (Annette Rayburn) Browning and Norman E. (Amy) Browning; brother, James E. (Rose) Beyer; grandchildren, Dayn (Brooke) Browning, Beth Browning, Beau (Mary) Browning, Baxton Browning and Casen Browning; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Browning, Kathryn Ahmad, Drew Browning, Michaela Browning and Capri Browning; and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, John “Junior” Beyer, Jr., Walter Beyer, Robert A. “Shorty” Beyer, Charles Beyer, and Raymond “Denny” Beyer; sisters, Clara “Sis” Winkler, Charlene Beyer and Elizabeth “Liz” Hewitt; and daughter-in-law, Carol Browning.
She graduated in 1949 from Waldron High School.
Norma was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, where she assisted in the preparation of many funeral dinners.
She was formerly a bookkeeper for Parish Lumber and the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
Norma was an avid bowler and golfer.
She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting, everything from doilys to afghans.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway St., Shelbyville, Indiana, with the rosary led by Rosemary Grove at 9:30 am.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Tuesday at the church, with Father Mike Keucher officiating.
Interment will be at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
