Opal M. Hamilton

Opal M. Hamilton, 101, of Fairland passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyville. She was born October 17, 1919, in Morgan County, the daughter of John Charles and Bettie Mae (Bada) Routier. On September 25, 1937, she married Henry W. W. Hamilton, and he preceded her in death on February 14, 1982. Opal is survived by her sons, John Hamilton of Indianapolis, Robert Hamilton of Greenfield, and David Hamilton of Brownsburg; daughter-in-law, Jean Hamilton of Fairland; several grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to Henry, Opal was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Janet Hodge; and son, Ralph Hamilton. Opal was a member of the New Life United Methodist Church, where she attended the “Come Join Us Class”. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, tending her flower gardens and caring for her home. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be at London Cemetery in Shelby County.
