Oscar Howard Jr.

Oscar Howard Jr., 78, of New Palestine, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Brandywine Golden Living Center in Greenfield. He was born October 9, 1943, in Richmond, the son of Oscar Sr. and Irene (Hoskins) Howard. Oscar is survived by his son, Patrick Howard and wife, Joy, of New Palestine; daughter, Sarah Howard of Southport; and grandchildren, Phoenix and Phoebe. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janice Haynes-Fry; and brothers, Toby Howard and Theodore Howard. In 1962, he graduated from Richmond High School. He received his Master’s degree in Art from Ball State University. Oscar was formerly an art teacher at Triton Central High School, retiring with over 25 years of service. He enjoyed guns, cars and art. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2022, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Pleasantview Cemetery in Shelby County.
