Othar L. Taylor Jr., 70, of Shelbyville passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021, at his home.
He was born July 6, 1950, in Laurel County, Kentucky, the son of Othar and Lola B. (Chaney) Taylor. On August 10, 1974, he married his wife of 46 years, Reba Jones, and she survives.
In addition to Reba, Othar is survived by his sons, Anthony Taylor and O. Roy Taylor, of Shelbyville; daughter, Patricia Rodriguez and husband, Jim, of Shelbyville; sisters, Chris Hess, Doris Taylor and Diane Ledington, all of Kentucky; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Othar was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Taylor; two brothers; and two sisters.
He was a member of Fariston Baptist Church in Fariston, Kentucky.
Othar was formerly employed at Swifty Gas Station for four years, retiring in 2004.
He enjoyed playing golfing, going fishing and watching NASCAR.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County, Indiana.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
