Pansy Faye Smith, 70, of Shelbyville passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville.
She was born September 2, 1949, in Somerset, Kentucky, the daughter of Forrest and Myrtle (Gaddis) Woodall. On February 14, 1998, she married John E. Smith, and he survives.
In addition to John, Pansy is survived by her daughters, Chrisann Baker and Cynthia “Nikki” Vanover, both of Shelbyville, and Catherine Chevon McKenzie of Fairland; brothers, Doy Smith and wife, Joyce, of Shelbyville, and Daniel Woodall and wife, Donna, of New Whiteland; sisters, Peggy DeWitt and husband, Clovis “Dale”, and Patricia Barker, both of Shelbyville; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant sisters, Alice Kay Woodall and Ruby Smith.
Pansy graduated in 1967 from Shelbyville High School.
She was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church.
Pansy was the head underwriter at American States Insurance for 10 years, and later was a waitress at the Bavarian House in Shelbyville for over 15 years.
She was an avid reader. Pansy enjoyed working word search puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Pansy also leaves behind her dog, Sunny.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Rev. George Mitchell officiating.
Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
