Philip Andrew Martin, 52, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018 at his residence. He was born November 6, 1965, in Fort Wayne, the son of John Kenneth and June Violet (Hager) Martin. Philip is survived by his mother of Columbus, Ohio; sons, Philip John Kenneth Martin and wife, Emily, of Fairland, and Joshua Michael Helvey and wife, Trisha, of Shelbyville; daughters, Savannah Ryne Helvey of Waldron, and Lindsay Renee Southworth and husband, Matthew, of Shelbyville; sister, Martha Bardash and husband, Jeff, of Columbus, Ohio; and grandchildren, Emma Martin, Benjamin Martin, Myla Martin, Gatlin Helvey, Gabrial Meadows, Joseph Higdon, Zoey Higdon and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his father. Philip graduated from Waldron High School in 1984. He was a member of Bible Holiness Church. Philip formerly worked at Roberta’s for seven years. He enjoyed sports and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Philip loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He also leaves behind his cat and best friend, Buddy. A gathering of friends and family will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2018 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. A celebration of Philip’s life will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Philip A. Martin Memorial Fund, in care of Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
