Ramona L. Oberman

Ramona L. Oberman, 71, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Indiana University Medical Center, in Indianapolis. Born May 8, 1933, in New Point, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Juanita (Ogden) Vickrey. She married Richard E. Oberman on May 31, 1953, and he survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Vicki (husband, Delbert) Frazier of Rushville; two sons, James R. (wife, Kim) Oberman of Jackson, Tenn., and Charles F. (wife, Debbie) Oberman of Shelbyville; three sisters, Margaret (husband, Lester) Keene of Westport, Charlotte (husband, William) Maddux of Westport and Shirley (husband, Russell) Bishop of Greensburg; nine grandchildren, Holly Gerrian, Shawn Frazier, Nikki Oberman, A.J. Oberman, Taylor Oberman, Charles Oberman II, Thad Oberman, Connie Oberman, Tiera Oberman; and three great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by one brother, John H. Vickrey; one sister, Clarice Boyd; and one grandchild, Ambrosia Oberman. Mrs. Oberman had been a Shelbyville resident since 1959, moving here from Greensburg. She lived in Rushville from 1967 to 1976. She had been a tax preparer since 1972, and owned Oberman Tax Service since 1987. Mrs. Oberman had been a volunteer for American Cancer Society, receiving the Outstanding Area Volunteer of the Year Award in 2003; Shelby County Relay for Life, where she was chairwoman since 1995; and Indiana Alzheimer?s Foundation. She was a former 4-H leader and Cub Scout leader. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Carmony-Ewing Broadway Street Funeral Home, 232 W. Broadway St. Funeral services will be at 10:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1560 N. Michigan Road, with the Rev. Howard Whitecotton officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 6030 W. 62nd St., Indianapolis, IN 46278; Alzheimer?s Foundation, 9135 N. Meridian St. Suite B-4, Indianapolis, IN 46260; or St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1560 N. Michigan Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176.
