Richard “Bird” Witt, 59, of Fairland, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at UCF Lake Nona Medical Center in Orlando, Florida.
He was born September 27, 1962, in Johnson Co., the son of Charles and Wiladean (Pippin) Witt. On July 4, 1992, he married his wife of 29 years, Robin Kettler, and she survives.
In addition to Robin, Bird is survived by his brothers, Carl Witt and wife, Jackie, of Okeechobee, Florida, Tom Witt and wife, Rachel, of Canton, Michigan, and Wally Witt and wife, Maggie of Vista, California; sisters, Pat Summitt, and Jackie Brewer and husband, Stan, both of Indianapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his dog, Jake.
Bird was preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated in 1980 from Triton Central High School.
Bird was a fabricator for R & R Plumbing.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 2118.
Bird enjoyed going golfing.
He loved to spend time with his family and friends.
A Celebration of Bird’s life will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022, at their home, 7412 W 500 N, in Fairland, Indiana.
Services were entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
