Richard "Buddy" Britt

Richard “Buddy” Britt, 74, of Waldron, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville. He was born May 5, 1947, in Hope Mills, North Carolina, the son of Jeston and Rosa Leigh (Smith) Britt. On August 20, 1966, he married his loving wife, Camilla “Millie” Rudicil, and she survives. In addition to Millie, Buddy is survived by his son, Jayson Britt and wife, Carrie, of Shelbyville; sisters, Faye Koonce of Fayettesville, North Carolina, Linda Long of Waldron, and Donna Hacker and husband, Billy, of Brodhead, Kentucky; grandchildren, Nicole Tillison and husband, Tyler, Christopher Britt and fiance’, Lexi Abbott, and Nathan Britt; great-grandchildren, Adalee Tillison and Zoey Tillison; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Amy Linette Britt; brothers, James Britt and Paul Britt; and sisters, Gerri Scudder and Sandi Stewart. He graduated in 1965 from Shelbyville High School. Buddy was a member of the Blue Ridge Christian Union Church. He retired in 2009, from O’Neal Steel, with over 40 years of service. Buddy loved to spend time creating loving memories, with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed going to the casino, traveling, fishing, going for a ride, and watching NASCAR. Buddy also enjoyed classic cars, his favorite was the 1957 Chevy. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Blue Ridge Christian Union Church, 446 S 775 E, Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Pastor James Thurman officiating. Interment will be at Mount Pisgah Baptist Cemetery in Shelby County. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
