Richard Merle Tucker

December 22, 1932 — August 8, 2018

Richard Merle Tucker, 85, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Waldron Health and Rehab Center in Waldron. He was born December 22, 1932, in Shelbyville, the son of Ralph E. and Loretta Faye (DeWitt) Tucker. He married Willma E. Price on January 30, 1960, and she survives. In addition to Willma, Richard is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Margison and husband, Stephen, of Shelbyville, and Willma Baxter of Bode, Iowa; son, James Tucker and wife, Joy, of Indianapolis; brother, Robert Tucker and wife, Shirley, of Shelbyville; sisters, Rita Tucker and Mary Bennett and husband, Jerry, both of Shelbyville; daughter-in-law, Diana Tucker; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Tucker; brothers, Jack Tucker and William Tucker; sisters, Linda Hill, Beverly Berry, Barbara “Sue” Bowers, Loretta “Joan” Armstrong and Lavaughn “Bonnie” Kendall. Richard was a U.S. Army veteran. He formerly worked as a cabinet maker at Admiral Corporation. Richard was a member of American Legion Post No. 70, Aerie Eagles Lodge No. 766, Forty and eight, Norristown F&AM Masonic Lodge and Norristown Order of Eastern Star. He enjoyed woodworking, jigsaw puzzles, camping and fishing. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
