Robert Eugene “Bob” Carlton, 93, of Morristown, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at his home.
He was born on June 29, 1932, in New Palestine, the son of Elmer Robert and Florence B. (Noe) Carlton. On August 28, 1970, he married Tonya Ann Mitchell, and she preceded him in death on February 10, 2024.
Bob is survived by his children, Kenneth Mark Carlton of Gwynneville, Katheryn Elizabeth Dice and husband, Ben, of Morristown, Kevin Ray Carlton and wife, Robin, of Gwynneville, John Taylor Carlton of Gwynneville, Julie Ann Neeb of Shelbyville, and Teresa Lynn Carlton of Fountaintown; sister, Jo Ann Tyner and husband, Lynn, of Morristown; brother, Gene W. Carlton and Pat Whittington, of Morristown, daughter-in-law, Connie Carlton of Morristown; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to Toni, Bob was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Elmer Carlton; brothers, William Carlton and Richard Carlton; and sisters-in-law, Beverlee Carlton and Patricia Carlton.
Bob graduated from Morristown High School in 1950.
He was a member and past trustee of the Gwynneville Christian Church.
Bob was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving as a Control Tower Operator from 1951 to 1955. He was a member of the Morristown American Legion Post No. 102.
He owned and operated Gwynneville Feed and Seed for 41 ½ years. Bob was also a school bus driver for 15 years.
Bob loved and supported his community by serving on the Asbury Cemetery Board, past president and member of the Morristown Lions Club, Morristown Chamber of Commerce, and Morristown School Board for 12 years. Because of his devotion, he was awarded the distinction of being named Morristown Citizen of the Year.
Military graveside rites will be conducted by the local military committee at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 2 pm.
A gathering of friends and family will be from 4 to 7 pm, on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.
The Celebration of Bob’s life will follow at 7 pm, Friday, at the funeral home.
