Robert Earl Abel

Robert Earl Abel, 65, of Fairland, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis. He was born December 17, 1952, in Shelbyville, the son of Herbert Gilmore and JoAnn (Murnan) Abel. Robert is survived by his mother of Indianapolis; son, Jason R. Abel and wife, Erin, of Fairland; daughter, Stephanie Morris and husband, Michael, of Fairland; sister, Dianna Cummings and husband, Steve, of Greenfield; grandchildren, Aidan Morris, Audrey Morris, Sydney Abel and Camden Abel; nieces, Christa Cummings and Courtney Eddy; and nephew, Ryan Cummings. He was preceded in death by his father; and grandson, Gabriel Abel. Robert graduated from Triton Central High School in 1970, and received his business degree from Butler University. He was a farmer. Robert was formerly a member of the Sugar Creek Masonic Lodge F&AM. He enjoyed gardening, reading and cooking. Robert loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Private family services will be observed. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
