Robert Eugene "Bob" Slifer

Robert Eugene “Bob” Slifer, 94, of Morristown passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020, at his home. He was born February 7, 1926, in Fountaintown, the son of Arthur Orville Slifer and Frances (Bunnell) Slifer Miles. On October 10, 1948, he married Hazel Tillison, and she preceded him in death on November 21, 2005. Bob is survived by his daughters, Connie Carlton and Linda Mummert and husband, Anthony, both of Morristown; son, Michael Slifer and wife, Emma, of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Kenneth Ailes and significant other, Tamralynn Self, Kevin Ailes and wife, Carrie, Marjorie Yandell and husband, Jeremiah, Stefanie Beard and husband, Carl, Jennifer Hickman and significant other, Marvin Rayner, David Hickman and wife, Brittany, Rachael Wilhere and husband, Pat, Heather Israel and husband, Perry, Travis Mummert and wife, Cassie, and Heather Hampton and husband, Fredrick; several great-grandchildren; and niece, Kathy Hoffman. In addition to Hazel, Bob was preceded in death by his son, Roger Slifer; son-in-law, Elmer Carlton; brother, John Jacob Slifer; sister, Lillian Bunnell; two infant siblings; sister-in-law, Ruth Slifer; brother-in-law, Robert Max Romack and wife, Rosella; and niece, Anita Miller. Bob attended Morristown High School. He was a member of the Fountaintown Christian Church and attended the Morristown Christian Church. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He retired from RCA in 1988, in test maintenance. Bob also was a television repairman. Bob was a member of the Riley Wranglers square dancers and danced in all 50 states. He also leaves behind his dog, Lady, and was preceded by Sophie Ann. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2020 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the funeral home, with Fred Hickman officiating. Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, CDC guidelines requiring a mask and social distancing will be observed. There will be a limit of 50 people allowed inside the funeral home at a time.
