Roberta "Denise" Rhodes

Roberta “Denise” Rhodes, 66, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. She was born December 19, 1955, in Rushville, the daughter of Robert Earl and Doris M. (Schmall) Rhodes. Denise is survived by her brother, Dennis G. Rhodes and spouse, Connie, of Nashville. She was the best aunt to Erin Rhodes and spouse, Carrie, Kylie Gady and spouse, Evan, and Andrew Rhodes and spouse, Larissa; and great-aunt to Carson Gady, Sydney Gady, Kinsey Gady, Ellie Rhodes, Beckham Rhodes and Quinn Rhodes. She was preceded in death by her parents; and great-nephew, Noah Rhodes. Denise graduated in 1974 from Shelbyville High School. She formerly worked at JC Penney’s, Lane Bryant and Deflecto, retiring in 2015. First and foremost, Denise loved her nieces and nephew like they were her own children. She was always knitting, sewing or cooking something for them that she thought they would enjoy. Denise really took pride in her involvement years ago in the SCUFFY program. That then changed to her love of her sorority, Kappa Delta Phi. She loved these kind and sharing women. Denise also took pride in helping with the Snow Princess Program. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends who certainly enjoyed her warmth and kindness. Denise also leaves behind her cats, Luna and Lily. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at East Hill Cemetery in Rushville.
