Ronald Gail Crisp, 80, of Shelbyville, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at The Willows of Greensburg in Greensburg.
He was born on May 1, 1946, in Shelbyville, the son of Clarence and Gilda (Pendelton) Crisp. On September 24, 1971, he married his wife of nearly 55 years, Terry Headlee, and she survives.
In addition to Terry, Ron is survived by his daughter, Ronita Crisp of Shelbyville; son, Zachary Crisp and wife, Emily, of Vale, North Carolina; sisters, Rhonda Roell and husband, Don, of Florida, Terri Fly and husband, Ralph, of Idaho, Robin Crisp of Texas, and Apryl Wischmeyer of Westfield, Indiana; brother, Kelly Crisp and wife, Allison, of Kentucky; grandchildren, Nicholas Hyatt, Shawn Hyatt, Nathan Hyatt, Rowland Crisp, Conall Crisp and Arthur Crisp; great-grandchildren, Lovella Hyatt, Kaine Hyatt and Vivian Hyatt; and numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, that he loved dearly.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his dog, Sherman.
In 1965, he graduated from Shelbyville High School.
He was a US Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam war.
Ron retired from Freudenberg NOK in 2014, with 42 years of service.
He was a member of the Shelbyville Community Church for over 20 years.
Ron was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and a bass club.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, going fishing, hunting and bowling, watching horse races, and playing cards.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 pm, Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St., in Shelbyville. Funeral services will follow, with Pastor Merry Popplewell officiating. Service will be livestreamed through Freeman Family Funeral Homes Facebook page www.facebook.com/freemanffh.
