Rosemary Ann (Holder) Trotter

Rosemary Ann (Holder) Trotter, 92, of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Hope.

She was born on July 16, 1934, in Columbus, the daughter of John and Hazel (Gosch) Holder. On April 15, 1956, she married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Trotter, and he preceded her in death on October 7, 2019.

Rosemary is survived by her children, Rev. Bryan Trotter and wife, Marisa, of Shelbyville, Marla Batt and husband, Kevin, of Winfield, West Virginia, and Barry Trotter and wife, Polly, of Hope; sisters, Irene Beeker of Columbus, and Eloise Golden and husband, Don, of Hope; grandchildren, Maclane Trotter and wife, Emily, Elizabeth Trotter, Pete Trotter and wife, Francie, William Trotter, Ian Batt, Rhys Batt and wife, Rachel, Merry C. Batt, Ainsley Batt, Graham Trotter and Elaina Trotter; great-grandchildren, Addilee and Bristol Trotter, and Monroe and Levi Batt; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to Ronald, Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Ed Beeker.

Rosemary graduated from Clifford High School in 1952. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Purdue and her master’s degree from Indiana University.

She was a very active and devoted lifelong member of Hope Moravian Church. Rosemary sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher. She served as an Elder and a Sunday school superintendent and Head Diener. Rosemary attended Cursillo and helped start “Journey Through Faith”

Rosemary taught second grade at Flatrock-Haw Creek School Corporation for 26 years and served on the school board.

She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Kiwanis, Order of Eastern Star, Home Economics Club, 4-H and the Quitter’s Club of retired teachers.

Rosemary was a wonderful farm wife. She and Ron hosted farm tours for school children for over 20 years. She enjoyed sewing, making beautiful ceramic pieces, gardening, canning and caring for animals.

Inurnment will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery in Hope at 3 pm, Friday, August 14, 2026.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 4 to 7 pm, Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Hope Moravian Church, 202 Main Street in Hope. Funeral service will follow at 7 pm, with Bryan Trotter officiating.

Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St., in Shelbyville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hope Moravian Church or Flatrock-Haw Creek School Endowment Fund., PO Box 202, Hope, IN 47246.
