Rosie Yoder

Rosie May McGuire Yoder, 86, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at Ashford Place Health Campus. Born Aug. 10, 1918, in Liberty, Ky., she was the daughter of William M. and Charlotte Ann (Helm) Patten. She married John McGuire and he preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1958. She married Jesse L. Yoder on Dec. 24, 1961, and he preceded her in death on March 10, 1985. Survivors include one son, John "Larry" McGuire of Greenfield; three daughters, Barbara Hamilton of Ellicott, Md., Charlotte (husband, Bill) Utley of Illinois and Carol (husband, Jim) Dunn of Hope Mills, N.C.; one son, Larry (wife, Priscilla) McGuire of Greenfield; one stepson, Paul Yoder of Anderson; four grandchildren; one stepgrandson; and one great-grandchild. She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter Patten, Luther Patten, Ed Patten and Charles Patten; two sisters, Elsie Wethington and Sue Reid; and one grandchild, Andrew McGuire. Mrs. Yoder moved to Shelbyville in 1937 from Liberty, Ky. She was a homemaker and had been employed at Shelby Manufacturing Co. from 1949 to 1975 and Elanjay Garment Corp. from 1975 to 1980. Mrs. Yoder attended school in Liberty, Ky. She was a member of Antioch Christian Church, in Liberty, and attended First Church of the Nazarene, where she was a member Links, a ladies quilting group. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Carmony-Ewing Broadway Street Funeral Home, 232 W. Broadway St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Bohall officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 2315 S. Riley Highway, Shelbyville, IN 46176; or Hospice of Shelby County, 110 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.
