Ruth Catherine Pryor

Ruth Catherine Pryor, 95, of Boggstown, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at IU Health West Hospital in Avon. She was born March 31, 1922, in Cloverdale, the daughter of Albert and Mary Elizabeth (Mundy) Siddons. She married Ott Pryor in 1940, and he preceded her in death. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Connie DeZwaan and husband, James, of Bourbonnais, Illinois; sons, Alan Pryor of Plainfield, and Stanley Pryor and wife, Mary, of Indianapolis; brother, Melvin Siddons and wife, Gloria, of Greencastle; seven grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert Lee “Bobby” Pryor; brothers, Maynard Siddons, Kenneth Siddons, James Siddons and Paul Henry Siddons; sisters, Ruby O’Neal, LaVerne Balay, Telitha Butler and Norma Leigh Reed. Ruth graduated from Martinsville High School in 1940. She retired as the Boggstown post master in 1986, with over 15 years of service. Ruth was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed teaching children in Sunday school and Bible school, and Cub and Boy Scouts. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, sewing, puzzles and reading the Word. She enjoyed taking care of “Bobby”. She loved gardening, canning and sharing vegetables. Ruth loved to travel and visited many countries. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Rev. Dr. Steve Bohall officiating. Interment will be at Boggstown Cemetery in Boggstown.
