Sally Sue Walton, 86, of Shelbyville passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020, at her home. She was born May 5, 1934, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Floyd M. and Gladys (McDonald) Long. On April 12, 1953, she married her husband of 67 years, Robert “Bob” Walton, and he survives. Sally and Bob had been friends and neighbors since they were, six and eight years old. In addition to Bob, Sally is survived by her daughters, Connie Rhodes and husband, Dennis, of Nashville, and Shelley Drake of Shelbyville; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Sally was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Janice Arbuckle and Shari Boyer. She graduated in 1952 from Shelbyville High School. Sally was an active member of First United Methodist Church, where she and Bob helped with the children Sunday school class. She formerly worked as a secretary at Loper Elementary, Shelbyville High School and Robbins, McDaniel and Johnson Eye Doctors. Sally was the “Ultimate Nana” following her grandchildren’s activities, and forming lasting friendships with their friends. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and sewing. Sally enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Rev. Colin Cress officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, 2626 E/ 17th St., Columbus, Indiana 47201.
