Sharon Joan Owens, 81, of Shelbyville, formerly of Indianapolis passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Rushville. She was born March 21, 1939, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Joseph Carl and Helen (Henderson) Owens. Sharon is survived by her sister, Shirley Fisher and husband, Michael, of Manilla; nieces, Angie Yeend and husband, Chris, of Manilla, and Kimberly Miller and husband, Rob, of Muncie; step-nieces, Colleen Abuzeid and husband, Anis, of Pensacola, Florida, and Rachael Click and husband, Doug, of South Carolina; great-nieces and great-nephews, Katelyn Yeend, Brady Yeend, Claudia Abuzeid, Fisher Abuzeid and Locryn Click. She was preceded in death by her parents. Sharon graduated in 1957 from Shelbyville High School. She was a member of Blue Ridge Christian Union Church. Sharon formerly worked at Boehringer-Mannheim from 1991 to 1998, she also drove a school bus for Warren Central and Shelby Central Schools. She enjoyed going camping and fishing. Sharon loved her dogs, and was preceded in death by her dog, Molly, and is survived by her dog, Moe. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2021, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Shelby County, with Dennis Hirschauer officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelbyville-Shelby County Animal Shelter, 705 Hale Road, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176.
