Susan Ann Southworth, 73, of Shelbyville passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021, at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville. She was born April 25, 1948, in Shelbyville, the daughter of William H. and Mary (Sosbe) Brokering. On June 5, 1966, she married her husband of 55 years, William Clay “Bill” Southworth, and he survives. In addition to Bill, Susan is survived by her sons, William C. “Bill” Southworth Jr. and wife, Jackie, and Christopher Southworth and wife, Amy, both of Shelbyville; grandchildren, John Southworth and wife, Corie, Josh Southworth and girlfriend, Alexa Karmire, C.J. Southworth, Jack Southworth, Chelsea Johnson and Zack Johnson; great-granddaughter, Davie Southworth; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, William H. Brokering Jr. and Larry W. Brokering. Susan graduated in 1966 from Shelbyville High School and attended Ivy Tech College. She was an executive secretary at Ivy Tech, both in Shelbyville and Indianapolis, retiring in 2012, with over 20 years of service. Susan enjoyed crafting, sewing, cooking and baking. She also enjoyed cake and cookie decorating, and catering for family and friend’s weddings. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 9. 2021, at Forest Hill Cemetery, 704 Morris Avenue in Shelbyville. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Indiana Chapter, 50 E. 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, Indiana 46240.
