Terri Lyn Bartley McClain was the only child of J.C. and LaVene Walden Bartley. She left her earthly home to join them on Monday, November 11, 2019. Continuing her love of life are her husband of 47 years, Herb; son, Kris; granddaughters, Kate, Rachel and their mother Theresa. In addition, sister, Tonie (George) Wilson; brother, B.K. Bartley; sisters-in-law, Sue (Mike) Redelman and Lynn (Jeb) Bass. She had many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Also, many friends and loved ones, too numerous to list.
Terri had a full life, she was eccentric, loving, strong-willed and free-spirited. She was considered a teacher of life’s lessons by some. She showed it was okay to step outside the box and just be you. “It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.”—Henry David Thoreau. Terri saw life as an open book to fill your chapters with adventures, create dreams and dare to take that leap of faith.
Terri graduated from Triton Central High School and attended Indiana Central College. She served 16 years on the Shelby County Library Board and 10 years as a 4-H leader. Current affiliations were the Shelby County Library Foundation, Beta Sigma Phi, Lambda Chi Sorority and the Fairland United Methodist Church.
Terri’s loves were many, God, family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, crafts, sewing, gardening, music and reading. Her two greatest passions were her love of the beach and Flamingos, sparked by her grandmother in her early childhood.
One of Terri’s favorite sayings was from singer, Jimmy Buffet—Breathe In—Breathe Out—Move on; just as she taught us all to do.
