Thomas W. Smith, 60, of New Whiteland, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023, at his home.

He was born April 12, 1963, in Shelbyville, the son of Eugene and Donna (Mays) Smith.  On May 5, 2000, he married, Theresa Johnson, and she survives.

In addition to Theresa, Thomas is survived by his son, Bradley W. Smith of Greenwood; brother, Larry Smith and wife, Rise’, of Shelbyville; and niece, Malerie Smith of Shelbyville.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Bruce Smith.

He graduated in 1982 from Southwestern High School.

Thomas was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and had served as a Security Police.

He retired in 2012, from NSK in Franklin, with 17 years of service.

Thomas was an avid Star Wars fan, and enjoyed anything science fiction.

He also enjoyed playing the guitar, computer gaming and building computers.

Thomas also leaves behind his cat, Bucky.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2023, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery in Shelby County.
