Tommie Dennis Sipes, 66, of Milroy, passed away Friday, December 30, 2022, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was born July 18, 1956, in Shelbyville, the son of William Arthur Sipes and Carrie Faye (Theobald) Davis. On June 29, 2008, he married his wife of 14 years, Cathy Smith, and she survives.
In addition to Cathy, Tommie is survived by his son, Benjamin Sipes of Shelbyville; daughter, Carrie Faye Percell and husband, Kenneth, of Shelbyville; step-son, Richard Dyer of Milroy; step-daughters, Victoria Dant and significant other, Isaiah Smay, of Piqua, Ohio, and Briana Gibson and significant other, Stephen Gabbard, of Connersville; daughter-in-law, Susan Sipes of Shelbyville; brothers, Russell Sipes of Indianapolis, and Tony Sipes and wife, Ann, of Shelbyville; sisters, Charlee Goodin of Indianapolis; Dorcas Dorsett of Shelbyville, and Deanna; grandchildren, Kristin, Jacobi, Brevin, Isabella, Hunter, Quintin, Alonna, Seth, Diamond, Bryce, Justin, Braden, Conner, Colton, Steven, Everly, Noah and Lucas; great-granddaughter, Evalynn; mother of his children, Lonna Hutton of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews including Shannon Sipes of Shelbyville.
Tommie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray Arthur Sipes; and granddaughter, Cassie.
He graduated in 1974 from Shelbyville High School, and studied Theology at Indiana University in Bloomington.
Tommie was a member of Word of Life Fellowship Church in Shelbyville.
He was formerly a truck driver, and also owned and operated a construction company, for over 25 years.
Tommie enjoyed going fishing and singing along with Patsy Cline and George Jones.
He was also known as “Mr. Fix-it”, and was always ready and willing to fix anything.
Tommie also leaves behind his dog, Walter.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home, with Michael Smith officiating.
Interment will be at Bennett Cemetery in Shelby County.
