Vicky Lynn Heck, 62, of Shelbyville passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Franciscan St. Francis Health in Indianapolis.
She was born July 20, 1957, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Douglas and Catherine (Ward) Sturgill.
Vicky is survived by her children, Chad Slaven and wife, Amber, and Gina Newman and fiance’, Jim Duncan, all of Shelbyville, Chris Heck and wife, Denny, of Hope, and Stephen Heck and wife, Lindsay, of Columbus; brothers, Michael Sturgill and wife, Mary, of Indianapolis, and Steve Sturgill and wife, Dreamla, of Shelbyville; her grandchildren she adored, Brooklynn Duncan, Noah Heck, Connor Duncan, Camdyn Newman, Elias Slaven, Lilian Slaven, Collin Duncan, Coby Heck, Sawyer Heck and Elin Heck; nine nieces; and six nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandmother who helped raise her, Florence Yarber and husband, Arie; sisters, Pamela Sturgill, Alisa Williams and Michelle Arnold; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard “Dick” Heck and wife, Joann.
Vicky was a founding member of the Shelbyville Community Church, which began 25 years ago, with Pastor Brad Davis. She enjoyed bible studies, women’s ministries and being a Sunday school teacher.
She retired in 2017, after 34 years of service from Freudenberg-NOK, where she was a press operator. Her dates of employment were from September 12, 1983 to March 31, 2017.
Vicky enjoyed traveling, gardening, bird watching and camping with her friends. She loved all types of music.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2020 at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
