Violet Louise Ramsey, 81, of Shelbyville, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.
She was born on December 29, 1944, in Shelby County, the daughter of Emerson “S.E.” and Caroline Priscilla (Macy) Linville. On April 18, 1965, she married Daniel G. Ramsey, Sr., and he preceded her in death on January 3, 2019.
Violet is survived by her sons, Daniel G. Ramsey Jr. and wife, Neva, of Manilla, Kenneth E. Ramsey of Shelbyville, and Dennis L. Ramsey and husband, Paul Wagoner, of Solsberry; grandchildren, Morgan and Gregory; brothers, William Fredrick Linville of Arlington, Keith Eugene Linville and wife, Diane, and David Earl Linville, both of Morristown; sister-in-law, Karen Linville, of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Daniel Sr., Violet was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Paul Emerson Linville and Ronnie Lee Linville; and sister-in-law, Sandy Linville.
She was an active, lifelong member of the Little Blue River Friends Church, where she taught Sunday school.
Violet graduated from Arlington High School in 1962.
She was a farm wife, homemaker, and lovingly baby sat for numerous children. Violet owned and operated her own independent business, Tidy House Cleaning Company, for many years.
She was also a member of the Pioneer Engineers Club of Rushville, Indiana. She enjoyed driving and riding the antique tractors in the parade with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed watching her grandson, Greg, learn how to maintain, haul, and operate the antique tractors and implements.
Violet was well known for her wonderful black raspberry cobbler and her delicious blondies. They were highly anticipated every year at the annual Pioneer Engineers Club Reunion. She enjoyed baking these treats and others with her granddaughter, Morgan.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Wednesday, July 8, 2026, and from 10 to 11 am, Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Little Blue River Friends Church, 122 N. 1000 W., Morristown, Indiana 46161.
Funeral services will be at 11 am, Thursday, at the church, with Pastors Jake Brown and Mike Dickey officiating.
Interment will follow at Little Blue River Friends Cemetery.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Little Blue River Friends Church, 122 N. 1000 W., Morristown, Indiana 46161.
