Violette G. Orr

Violette G. Orr, 96, of Morristown passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Cypress Run in Morristown. She was born August 5, 1925, in Rockland, Maine, the daughter of Harold and Eula (Barter) Gerrish. On August 27, 1948, she married Daniel Orr, and he preceded her in death in October of 2012. Violette is survived by her son, Thomas Orr and wife, Terri Garcia, of Morristown; daughters, Mary Gordon and husband, James, of Danvers, Massachusetts, and Elizabeth Toner of Lincoln, Maine; brother, Wayne Gerrish and wife, Theda, of Lexington, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to Daniel, Violette was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harold Gerrish and Vernon Gerrish; and sisters, Mary Smith and Beverly Bodman. Violette graduated in 1943 from Rockland High School, and received her bachelors degree in biblical studies, from Gordon College. She was a member of the American Baptist Church, serving as a pastor’s wife in numerous locations. Violette was a homemaker and had formerly taught school in Beatty, Nevada. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, tatting and quilting. She was an avid reader. Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E.
