Wanda Elaine Wheeler

Wanda Elaine Wheeler, 75, of Indianapolis, passed away, Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis.

She was born May 26, 1947, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Lee and Thelma (Crecelius) Adkins.  On November 5, 1983, she married Roger Wheeler, and he survives.

In addition to Roger, Wanda is survived by her children, Carol Liane Jones and husband, John, of Scottsville, Kentucky, Michelle Grenier and husband, John, of Lewisville, Carl William McNew of Des Moines, Iowa, Brian McNew of Kokomo, and Alan Wheeler and wife, Suann, and Stefanie Holcomb and husband, James, both of Monrovia; sisters, Sandra Murphy and Jane Ann York and husband, Richard, both of Shelbyville, and Roxy Eldridge of London; brothers, Wayne Adkins and wife, Anita, of Carmel, James Adkins and wife, Julie, and Dale Adkins and wife, Runea, both of Boggstown; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; and daughter, Cinda Renee Canchola.

She retired in 1997, after working in the cafeteria for seven or eight years, at Maple Crest Middle School in Kokomo.

Wanda enjoyed researching genealogy, gardening, exploring the web on her computer, and she loved cats. 

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 15, 2022, at the funeral home, with John Grenier officiating.

Interment will be at Fairland Cemetery in Fairland.
